Here at our exclusive PADI IDC Center based in the Gili Islands we have 2 PADI Course Directors and a number of PADI Staff Instructors. However our Instructor Development Course is conducted entirely by our Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod, so as to give you the best possible training every step of the way and our PADI Staff Instructors are there to assist you along the way.

Who is teaching the IDC Gili Islands Program! 

There are many dive centers that offer 2, 3 or even sometime 4 PADI Course Directors and sometimes a team of PADI Staff Instructors. This will often inevitably lead to the question of “who the hell is teaching my course?” Although it looks great on paper to have all these IDC staff Instructors it can also mean the majority of the course is taught by a PADI Staff Instructor, which in some circumstances can be great but in others not so.

There have been many reports of potential candidates choosing to take their instructor training course with a particular Course Director, or sometime choosing a facility because it offers multiple Course Directors and IDC Staff, only to find that the course is nearly entirely conducted by a Staff Instructors with minimal experience. In one particular case a candidate never actually met the PADI Course Director during the course, but because they has already made Facebook friends prior to course and were subsequently updated about which level they had achieved in their latest Facebook game and what they were having for dinner that night. Other examples include swapping course directors to go and start an alternative IDC in another country and even disappearing to a dive show halfway through the course to advertise that very course.

This is why although we do have additional PADI IDC Staff the course will always be conducted by our Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod which allows full consistency in the development of the instructor candidates. It also allows our PADI Course Director to develop a closer relationship with her candidates and in most cases acting as teacher, mentor and friend to our candidates.

The PADI Gili IslandsIDC Career program runs once a month here at Trawangan Dive and we are very proud of all are instructor candidates, most of which have become close personal friends with our Platinum PADI Course Director. The program is run on an 11 day schedule plus 4 days of pre-IDC preparation workshops.

The Prerequisite for enrolling on the instructor development course is to be over the age of 18 years, have a 100 logged dives and be a certified PADI Divemaster or equivalent (from an alternative organization).

Of course Trawangan Dive can help you with the full range of PADI programs ranging from introductory dives to the professional level programs such as the PADI IDC GiliIslands Divemaster and Instructor programs. Once a PADI Divemaster or equivalent you can enroll on the IDC program.  Our PADI IDC Program run on an 11 day schedule and includes a 4 day pre-IDC Workshop. Trawangan Dive is first established PADI Career Development Center in Lombok and the Gili Islands.

 

Our PADI Course Director has had years of experience as a PADI Instructor and is now at the forefront of instructor training and is therefore able to offer advice about both job roles within the dive industry and of course the dive locations themselves. We have also added some additional units the course including a brand new Project AWARE presentation highlighting the aims and objectives of the foundation as well as some of their achievements. Another addition to the program is the New Revised PADI Open Water Workshop where we review the new PADI Open Water Course and highlight the differences with the traditional course.

PADI IDC Staff Instructor | IDC Gili Islands Career Development | Trawangan Dive

If you are already a PADI Instructor and looking to further your career in the industry there are a range of options. The PADI IDC Staff Instructor Course allows seasoned instructors to gain in depth knowledge of instructor training, helping to develop future PADI Instructors.

The PADI IDC Staff instructor is an integral role of the PADI Instructor Development Course and taking your IDC Staff Instructor Course at Trawangan Dive is the perfect stepping stone towards becoming a PADI Course Director and also a perfect way to develop your experience. 

Many PADI Dive Centers and Resorts require this level of training for management positions so it is a great way to enhance your personal career ambitions.

To enroll on the PADI IDC Staff Instructor Course you will need to be over 18 years old and have already achieved the Master Scuba Diver Rating, which comprises of 5 specialties and a minimum of 25 PADI certifications.

PADI IDC Gili Trawangan | the Gili CDC Career Development 2014 | Trawangan Dive

 

During the course of 2014 the Gili IDC Indonesia are taking the PADI IDC Gili Trawangan to a whole new level. Working in conjunction with Trawangan Dive, the only PADI Career Development Center (CDC) in the Gili Islands; the dive center is currently introducing a range or PADI Career Development Programs aimed at developing career’s for IDC candidates and enhancing the career potential of our IDC graduates.

The Career Development Programs include specialty combinations, conservation combination programs, technical diving internships, general experience internships and the Komodo Livaboard Training internship.

Our exclusive PADI IDC courses run each and every month here in the Gili Islands. Courses are conducted by our PADI Course Director, who has a wealth of industry experience from all over the world and is able to advise candidates of opportunities available within industry, as well as advising graduates of the general expectations within particular regions.

The next IDC will start on the 17^th of January and includes all aspects of the PADI IDC syllabus including knowledge development, dive skills, business of diving, DSD workshop, risk management, marketing, classroom and open water presentations, standards and procedures, adventures in diving and rescue workshops. The Trawangan Dive course will teach you to a standard well over and above that required for the PADI IDC syllabus and will teach you how to easily conduct all PADI Program to an extremely high standard.

The PADI Divemaster and Instructor Development Course (IDC) are the first steps when entering into a career in recreational scuba diving.

The Gili IDC Indonesia exclusively provides PADI Instructor Development Training, operating out of the largest and most experienced group of PADI Dive Centers across Indonesia. The group currently operates 5 dive centers around the Gili Islands and Komodo National Park.

We have chosen one of our flagship centers to conduct our exclusive PADI IDC course. Trawangan Dive is the only PADI 5 Star Career Development Centers in the Gili Islands. Our center is fully equipped with the latest facilities, training aids and multimedia. Our training sites are only a couple of minutes by boat and are fully set up for IDC training purposes.

The Gili IDC not only teaches you to be an instructor and pass the PADI Instructor Exam, but takes you to a level that far exceeds that required by the industry, maximizing your career prospects and your enjoyment of working life and of course also increasing the benefits gained by your future students.

The course is taught on a 10 day schedule followed by the PADI EFRI course. We do recommend that people arrive early so as to take full advantage of our pre-IDC workshops (4 days minimum recommended).

Our PADI Course Director has been working within industry for over a decade and has worked and dived in multiple locations around the world. She can advise you of all aspects of working within the recreational dive industry and what to expect from potential employers.

Most of our previous instructors have found work immediately after the course, either within the group or with other dive centers. In fact we often get asked by dive centers to provide instructors. It is fairly easy to see and meet our previous PADI Instructors by taking a walk around Gili Trawangan, as many former IDC candidates choose to stay here on the Island to work.
